Austria 2012 - Eurovision national final

La televisión austríaca ORF realizará una final entre 10 candidatos para elegir a su representante en Baku. La final tendrá lugar en los estudios de la televisión en Viena el 24 de febrero.

Austria: ORF stick to national selection format
It seems that the Austrian public broadcaster ORF is happy with the results they achieved in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest as the country will once again rely on the radiostation Ö3 to hold part of the country's song selection for Eurovision 2012.
Austrian public broadcaster ORF has recently presented their new season programmes for 2012. The Eurovision Song Contest is included, thus confirming their participation in next year's edition of the paneuropean event.

ORF has not disclosed much information yet on the full procedure to select Austria's participant for Baku, but it is clear that the radiostation Ö3 will once again play an important role. Just like last year, an early stage of the national selection will soon open, where listeners will be able to nominate whatever artist or group they wish. Further details are expected to be revealed by ORF.

It also remains unknown the date for the national final.

This formula proved quite successful for Austria in Eurovision 2011. The country managed to make the final, ending up on the 18th position. Quite an achievement, given that Austria missed the finals in its two previous participations (2005 and 2007). In fact, Nadine Beiler with The secret is love brought her nation its best result since 2003.

Austrian public broadcaster ORF has announced that the country will hold its national final for Eurovision 2012 in February, without specifying the exact date yet. According to ORF, the Austrian representative in Baku will be decided "during a live show with audience voting".

As already announced over a month ago, Austria will stick to their 2011 selection formula, which consists of a single selection show preceded by a qualifying round held through radiostation Hitradio Ö3. Listeners will be able to nominate whatever artist or group they wish to go through the final, to take place in February.
