La República Checa ha anunciado de forma oficial su negativa a participar en el Festival de Eurovisión.

Despite claims that the Czech Republic might come back in the Eurovision Song Contest for next year's edition, the central European country will skip the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 as its national television will focus on other shows. The last time the Czech Republic took part in Europe's favourite TV show was in 2009 when it failed to reach the grand final.

The Eurovision Song Contest welcomed the Czech Republic in 2007 when it was represented by one of their most popular groups. Kabat failed to qualify for the grand final in Helsinki and placed last in the semi final.
One year later, pop singer Tereza Kerndlová won the Czech ticket to Belgrade with a song called Have some fun. Despite the creative title, Kerndlová also failed to reach the final and placed 2nd last in one of the semi finals of that year, making it the best result achieved by the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Their last participation occurred in 2009 when Gipsy.cz represented them with a song inspired by a Gipsy theme which also placed last in the semi final.

The general director of the Czech Television confirmed the news that the central European country will not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. Instead of Europe's favourite TV show, the Czech TV will focus on other shows including BBC's Downton Abbey.

Pues una auténtica pena

Me encantaría ver a todos los centroeuropeos participar en la misma edición, pero parece que es imposible, siempre se cae uno u otro.

Lo peor no es que se retiren, es las razones por las que lo hacen:

The Czech Republic national broadcaster is undergoing major changes and now they focus to programs for young audiences. The broadcaster consider the ESC show as a failure for the country and for older people

Lo principal no son razones económicas, sino que creen que el ESC es para gente mayor

Y esa opinión no cambia de una edición para otra, tardarán años en cambiar el chip, asi que no creo que haya Rep. Checa en bastante tiempo

Supongo que sus terribles resultados en sus tres participaciones (para mí dos de ellos muy merecidos, pero bueno) también influirán.

Se confirma definitivamente que la CT tampoco estará por tercer año consecutivo en Eurovisión.
